Aescher Route
Because we were on a bicycle, we started the Aescher Route at the end of Bibern road. We saw people walking up this quiet road from their hotels in Schwende… but you can access Aescher from a number of other locations, including the lake Seealpsee. This is a short, but very steep route that takes you to where you can see a few very beautiful and interesting pieces of architecture.
The most prominent architecture is the Guesthouse at Aescher, pictured above. To make reservations to spend the night, Click Here. We met people who were using this location to spend the night as part of longer backpacking trips.
You can hike in from many different points – or you can even take a cable car up to the top. If you take the cable car, though, you’re still not exempt from hiking. From the cable car, you walk on uneven surfaces down through some interesting caves, and past the church in the caves. The caves are know as Wildkirchli
Hi there, This is great to see- can I ask where you left your bikes? I’m travelling in July and thought maybe the lift area is the best spot, but would quite like to do the route you’ve completed on your bike also.
Thanks
Louise.
Hi Louise – Sorry; I didn’t see your message until today! We actually just left the bike down at the bottom – exactly where this GPS track starts. Maybe not the safest location, so your idea may be better. Hope you have a great trip!
