09/23/2023 Bikepacking Spain Day 46 : Fly by night – away from here!
Photos:
I keep saying that we are leaving the mountains… except we aren’t really. We designed the route two months ago, and over time I start to forget the route. Then I zoom in and see the topo lines and say, “oh yeah, that is why we drew that!”

Morning stop after a two day coffee hiatus (for me, not Janet). The scientific method reveals once again that my reflux is more positively correlated with sleeping in a house or hotel more than it is correlated with coffee. So I am happy to enjoy this treat once again.

Today’s route was a hybrid of dirt and pavement - but mostly easier grades… so once again we broke our mileage record for the trip.

Here is what a ghost town looks like in Spain. Actually, many towns seem like ghost towns between 1 and 4 pm.

Spain has a fly problem, guys. Some days, we don’t have any…. But this evening we were absolutely swarmed!

Loved the fly video. Made me laugh while I'm spending some tough hospital time.

David suggested the Zoe Channel on YouTube for the reflux issue. He's gotten some good suggestions there.

Were the structures on the side of that hill some kind of an old mining operation? Not sure if I could sleep with all those flies. Hopefully they slept too. I think your reflex issue is mental (not meant to be mean). My theory is that you don't like to be caged in, especially when you are on a trip like this.

Paula G those buildings on the cliff were close to the deserted building we camped in. Maybe mining. It was so steep it couldn’t have been for a train. Brian Lucido is trying all kinds of ideas to get rid of the reflux. 🤞
